November-in-Review

This year’s photos are from Portland, my one adventure trip this month.

Went to Portland, reconnected with a high school friend, had fish and chips that was amongst the top meals I’ve ever eaten, got into trouble and then back out of it on my own accord…

2. How are the yearly resolutions coming along?
Quite well: daily photos, meditation, working out a lot, even more writing, and oodles of introspection. Basically, a good month, even though I wouldn’t have thought so on a daily basis.

3. How did last month’s resolution go?
The goal was to stick to budget, which I didn’t do… I wasn’t super far off, but I wasn’t also on. So. Fail.

4. What’s a new resolution for this month?
To write meaningful and achievable New Years Resolutions for 2014.

My friend C, who I reconnected with over Thanksgiving, whom I have so many unexpected things in common with, and whom I’m so glad to have back in my life.

6. What would you like to have next month that you lacked this month?
A lot more money! Only because I really started to look at repaying my student loans, and it frankly makes me a very depressed person, and I want to pay it off faster than I ever can. Imagine how much I could do if I actually got to keep all the money I made!

7. What date from this month will remain etched in your memory and why?
November 22, 2013: The day I first did the job I was hired to do, only six weeks later.

Being happy with myself as I am.

9. And your biggest failure?
Getting myself into a bad situation with an old friend, and having to deal with that.

10. What did you get really, really excited about this month?
Oscar/the Holiday movie season. Such a great time of the year for the movie buffs.

11. What song will always remind you of this month?
“Harlem” by New Politics:

I spend my money on the regular miracles
Just like you, like me, like everybody else.
Up on the sun, lookin’ sad and beautiful
Just like you, like me, like everybody else.

12. What was the best book your read this month?
“Catching Fire” by Suzanne Collins

13. What was your favorite film this month?
Catching Fire

Everything happens for a reason. We just don’t get to understand it right away, and that makes patience the most important thing to learn.

15. What’s next month’s horoscope?
Most things in life happen for a reason. (Ironic, eh?, with regard to my most previous answer.) Few, though, happen for exactly the reason that we initially feel inclined to attribute. This may sound like an odd thing for someone like me to say but we have to be careful about what we read into omens and portents. We tend to use them as an excuse to support a prejudice. We can be too quick to let them buoy up our hopes or feed our fears. The absence of a useful asset should not be a reason to give up on a key idea. What’s needed this month is not pessimism but perseverance. (source)
